THE MOLE IS SET TO CHANGE THE WAY PEOPLE DEAL WITH THE MASS OF INFORMATION WHICH BOMBARDS THEM EVERY DAY.

The Mole is a world-leading content intelligence product which analyses information from unstructured data sources such as word documents, pdfs, websites, news services and email.

Wellington based Hyperbolex sees its content analysis product as a "disruptive technology" that will, over time, change the way organisations deal with the unprecedented volumes of information available to them.

The volume of information available in an unstructured form is reportedly doubling every three months and Hyperbolex chief executive, Ted Thomas, says The Mole gives the user an immediate understanding of the contents of a document based on his/her area of interest - thus saving time and resource costs.

Chief operating officer, Liz Swanston, says The Mole eliminates the clutter and the information being sought bubbles to the surface in a non-prescriptive way.

"We have learnt that the user must be in control of the process. Where The Mole is different is that it is intuitive ... the system is designed to work the way a person thinks."

While The Mole has applicability across a range of domains, the company is focusing initially on the legal and government sectors and the security intelligence market.

It has made inroads into the US market, signing a partnership agreement with RFD & Associates (a leading provider of technology solutions to government agencies in the State of Texas) and with TrialSmith, a portal hosting the largest online deposition bank in the United States for lawyers.

The group also has a key partner in the United Kingdom that it is working with to raise the necessary funds for expansion and global sales and marketing.

For Thomas and Swanston the crucial element of the technology is that it can change the way people deal with information.

"There are huge stores of information in every sector; the amount of information we are supposed to absorb in a short space of time is enormous. Our vision is that The Mole will become a pervasive technology embedded in other software products ... a technology that will be on every desktop".
